The Hanseatic market is open for business in the center of ValmieraPrint
From June 18th, on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, as well as on other specially designated days, the Valmiera Hanseatic Market will take place in the city center by organizing thematic markets. Local producers from Valmiera, Beverīna, Burtnieki, Kocēni, Naukšēni, Mazsalaca, Rūjiena, Strenči counties, craftsmen or local producers will offer their products and products there.
The aim of establishing the Valmiera Hanseatic Market is to improve market traditions by promoting economic activity in the region, supporting home producers, craftsmen and local producers in Valmiera and the surrounding area, expanding opportunities to sell their products in Valmiera, and diversifying information, recreation and shopping for Valmiera residents and visitors.
"Micro and small enterprises, which are also home producers and craftsmen, contribute to the well-being of themselves and their families by creating value-added goods that contribute to overall economic growth. During the nationwide emergency situation, most home producers were forced to stop selling directly at various markets. We hope that the initiative of Valmiera city cunicipality, creating the Valmiera Hanseatic carket, will allow to return to economic circulation. It will be an opportunity for Valmiera residents and Valmiera guests to support local producers,” Jānis Baiks, Chairman of Valmiera city municipality council, substantiates the motivation to create a market.
There are eight Hanseatic houses in Hansa Square in Valmiera. Safety recommendations for limiting the spread of the COVID-19 infection are taken into account when marketing.
Trading in the Valmiera Hanseatic market is currently set from June 18th to October 31st, 2020, on Thursdays and Fridays from 15.00 to 19.00 and on Saturdays from 9.00 to 16.00, providing the possibility to organize thematic markets on other specially designated days.
The Valmiera Hanseatic market is organized by the Valmiera Museum.
