From 28th June till 1st July in Luneburg (Germany) there will be XXXII International Hansa Days, and Valmiera will take part in this event. The delegation is composed by the Deputy of Valmiera City Municipality Ričards Gailums, the Consultant of Tourism Information Centre Anita Deigele, Public relations specialist Anita Zušmane, International coordinator Sanda Deisone and three musicians from Valmiera Music School who will participate in project “Valmiera – Lippstadt Hanse Ensemble”.
Main part of Hansa Days is the big Hansa Fair where every city will present itself providing information, national food and handicraft products. During these days there will also be a plentiful culture program with performances by musicians, dancers and singers from all Hansa cities. In addition, there will be Art festival “Hansa Art 2012”. During Hansa Days there will also be Medieval Fair.
Valmiera will present itself with informative materials, souvenirs, handicrafts made by studio of applied arts “Valmiera”, caraway cheese by “Valmieras piens”, rye bread by “Liepkalni” and bear by “Valmiermuiža”. Valmiera will participate in culture events, Economic Forum and in conference of the project “Business region – Hansa”.
Medieval Hansa Union was created, mainly because of trade and economics. That is why renewed Hansa Union is also focusing on economics and contacts among Hansa cities. Besides, in this year there will be The World Economic Forum “From Salt to Knowledge” that will highlight the cooperation between industries and institutions of higher education. 20 Hansa cities are joined together in the project “Business region – Hansa” which is like a pilot project for stimulation of Hansa economics. Valmiera is the only Latvian city which participates in this project.
In renewed Hansa Union there are 177 cities from 16 countries and in Latvia there are 8 cities which are in Hansa Union. Also representatives from Rīga, Cēsis, Straupe, Kuldīga, Koknese and Limbaži will visit Hansa Days in Luneburg.
