Taste connoisseurs visit ValmieraPrint
During the autumn harvest, from October 9 to 14, several Hanseatic cities in Latvia and Visby in Sweden were visited by three tourism experts from Germany and the Netherlands to enjoy the culinary offers of Hanseatic cities and learn about the local heritage. Guests enjoyed the hospitality of Valmiera during October 10 and 11.
During the afternoon of the Day 1 in Valmiera tourism specialists visited the Valmiermuiža Beer Brewery, where learned about different beer recipes, and that one beer was brewed by medieval methods. In the evening guests visited the restaurant “Rātes vārti”. There the visitors enjoyed dishes, made from local products and ingredients.
The second day started with a history lesson in the medieval programme “School of Knights”. After that the guests had breakfast at the rich tables of the tavern “Pils ķēķis”. The tourism experts enjoyed the “Breakfast of Knights” – porridge, meat roast, snacks and carrot pie. While preparing the special breakfast offer, the chefs used products and spices, which were available also during the Middle Ages.
The visit of tourism specialists was part of the HANSA (“Hanseatic Approach to New Sustainable Alliances”) project, supported by the Central Baltic Programme 2014-2020 and European Regional Development Fund.
