Danes learn about ecoturism offer in ValmieraPrint
From May 4th to 6th the delegation from Høje-Taastrup, Denmark visited Valmiera in order to find out more about the city’s ecotourism opportunities. The delegation consisted of Mayor of Høje-Taastrup Mr.Michael Ziegler, deputy Mayor Mr. Lars Prier and member of the city council Mr. Hugo Hammel.
During the visit the delegation participated in cinema and biking festival “Kino Pedālis”, found out more about the herbal tea use during a lecture in Valmiera Museum, visited the swimming pool’s building that is yet under construction, and saw a lot more in the city. Together with the Mayor of Valmiera city Mr. Jānis Baiks and Deputy Mayor Mr. Ričards Gailums as well as the International Relations Coordinator Mrs.Elīna Rubule they discussed various potential cooperation opportunities.
Leaders of both of the cities admitted their willingness to strenghten the cooperation between Valmiera and Høje-Taastrup. As well they agreed to see how it could be possible to revive the cooperation between the music schools and to increase the information Exchange.
The delegation admitted that Valmiera has reached a significant development during the past years. They expressed the willingness to probably organize similar event to “Maģisko sajūtu nakts” (Night of the Magic Senses) back in Denmark, while consulting to Valmiera about the organizational issues.
The festival “Kino Pedālis” by no surprise recieved a lot of compliments. Guests highlighted the importance of bringing back to life those territories that are othervise left unused or less used. They also approved the gastronomic kitchen that during the whole visit they tasted in various restaurants and cafes. Guests admited that there is no doubt why Valmiera is included in the European gastronomic region 2017.
The twinning city agreement between Valmiera and Høje-Taastrup was signed in 1995. Since then the municipalities are strongly linked in various issues such as education, culture, sports, experience Exchange and other.
