Valmiera invites to international track meet

On 8-9 June 2012 the traditional event will be arranged in Valmiera – ‘’President Cup in track and field athletics’’. Valmiera Mayor Inesis Boķis inform about the changes in organization of competition: until now there have been only Latvian athletes participating in different sport disciplines, it does not longer make any intrigue and excitement, so there is decision to arrange competition on international level where both Latvian, Estonian and Lithuanian teams will contend with each other for getting President Cup. Sportsmen will get possibility to do qualification norms both for Olympic games and European championship, as well as there will be opportunity to get individual money awards.
Organizer: Olympic Centre of Vidzeme in collaboration with Latvian Athletics association and Chancery of the President of Latvia. Competition manages by Latvian Athletics Association approved judges board. Competitions are organized based on IAAF Rules.
Venue and time: Latvia, Valmiera, 08.-09. 06. 2012
Participants: Latvian, Estonian and Lithuanian National teams.
Age: Seniors men and women (born 1996 and older)
No. of athletes: In each event from every team can start all athletes, who has complied with B standards on London Olympic Games (see Attachment Nr.1) or without Standard B not more than 2 athletes in event.
Each team gets points for only two participants in event.
Scoring: Separate (men and women) and total scoring;
Individual: 7-5-4-3-2-1; Relays: 6-4-2 points
Victory ceremonies: There will be 5 awards of President of Republic of Latvia:
3 (three) awards in team ranking (1st-3rd place)
2 (two) awards in individual ranking
In individual ranking best result (man and Woman) will be determinate by IAAF point tables.
The winners of competition (1st till 3rd place) will be presented with a gold, silver and bronze medal, diploma and prize money (see Attachment Nr. 2):
